In current society, what you look like is the be-all and end-all. With Instagram only showing the beautiful people and their wonderful lives, it’s easy to get suckered in to thinking that your world is just not as it should be. But spare a thought for the UglyDollsand their Imperfect Adventure in Uglyville – a place where no-one is on social media… and they are seemingly happy to keep it that way!
UglyDolls: An Imperfect Adventure is available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC, building up to the big-screen film release and proving that you don’t have to be totally beautiful in order to enjoy life.
See, it is this game which drops you into the world of Uglyville, a place that is fast being taken over by a horde of robots from the Institute of Perfection, attempting with all their might to make this town ‘perfect’. The problem is, the residents don’t want that, happily getting on with their imperfect, slightly strange, ways, embracing the uniqueness and difference between them all.
It is here where you come in and taking charge of one of the UglyDolls will have to find it within yourself to fight back the robot invaders and ensure the quirky nature of Uglyville is left intact. It’s a strange premise and an even stranger world you’ll find yourself in but by working with other UglyDolls will be able to explore the randomly generated streets, before collecting items and crafting more in order to win over the day.
A local 2-player cooperative mode is also available for those times when you and mate just wish to help the UglyDolls out, and with a price tag of $39.99 attached to the Xbox One version of the game, will find something that is hugely different to the norm. Also available on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC, UglyDolls: An Imperfect Adventure is however currently limited to the North American scene – should that change and we see the UglyDolls break out to further shores, we’ll be sure to let you know.

“Robots are cool when they’re all blinking lights and zooming by with their sleek metallic finish. But what if they’re robots from a place called the Institute of Perfection? In UglyDolls: An Imperfect Adventure, a whole horde of robots are on the loose and taking over Uglyville trying to make it “perfect!”. What is wrong with that, you might ask? Uglyville is a sweet neighbourhood where everything is a little off. The townsfolk are all uniquely different and embrace each other for their differences. On the plus side, you get to be Moxy, the energetic UglyDoll who’s got a lot of “moxy”! You prefer Ox? That’s ok, pick him instead and play as the founder and mayor of Uglyville. As one of these characters, you’re about to team up with all your friends from the UglyDolls movie, explore the adorable quirkiness of Uglyville, and work together to send those uptight robots back to where they came from. This robot invasion is sounding more and more like a party. And we haven’t even mentioned how you’ll meet lots more UglyDolls, interact with them, and collect or craft useful things that will help you capture and return the robots to their home. You will encounter things like pogo sticks and hover hats. You’ve never owned a hover hat before? Then your UglyDoll friends really hope you come on this robot party adventure. But do you have the courage not to run away from the pesky robots? No? Don’t worry. Moxy (or Ox) will run away with you or help you craft the “perfect” item to transport them home. • CONTROL MOXY OR OX and team up with fellow UglyDolls: Babo, Ice Bat, Wage and Ugly Dog • EXPLORE UGLYVILLE with procedurally generated streets that make every game different • LURE AND TRAP a horde of relentless robots and send them out of Uglyville! • PLAY TOGETHER in 2-player local cooperative mode”
