gumi

A representative from gumi recently confirmed it has withdrawn entirely from Canada, Sweden, and Germany, and shut down studios in Austin and Hong Kong. Operations in gumi’s HQ in Japan, with overseas operations in China, France, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, the Philippines, and the San Francisco office within the US will continue as usual for the Brave Frontier publisher.

The studio in Vancouver, Canada, opened less than 2 years ago with ex-Microsoft executive AJ Redmer and Capcom veteran Chris Rowe heading the outfit with a view to building games aimed at both Western and global markets. However, at the time of closing, the studio hadn’t launched any internal games nor published any external titles. gumi recently started investing in the VR industry.
